BP sued by Texas residents over oil refinery explosion

Green energy and sustainable sources of fuel have been growing in popularity for many reasons. For one, in the long term, it will save money. For another, it won’t drain quickly dwindling resources on our planet. For a third, it won’t resultin explosions and pollution in the style of British Petroleum’s oil refineryback in 2010.

While BP’s public relations department has been working overtime to counter the image of polluters and inept leadership, they’ve been unable to sate the anger of over fifty thousand Texans, who are currently suing the company for the destructive after effects of the explosion. Residents in a much larger number than the people currently suing BP got ill after the event, and the pollution has done irredeemable damage to Texas’ environment and ecology in some places.

With some small, notable examples, green energy differs in this department. Most sources of renewable energy are totally clean, with extremely little or no environmental impact. Even if sites of green energy production explode, it won’t cause nearly the environmental impact that BP committed off the Texan coast. The worst part of this refinery’s explosion is that it is nowhere near an isolated example. Green energy is a foregone conclusion for most, as when we run out of fossil fuels, we’ll have no choice. The added healthiness for the environment is just another benefit, and another reason to get that technology faster.
