Donald Trump launches an ineffectual campaign against Scottish Wind Farms

In Edinburgh, Scotland, Donald Trump made an appearance in an inquiry in to producing a wind farm to aid Scotland’s attempts to pursue green energy. If Donald Trump was the only opposition, though, proponents of the movement have nothing to fear. Trump claims that his interests, namely a $1.2 billion dollar golf course in Scotland, will be damaged by installing the turbines within view of it.

Using Ireland, Scotland’s longstanding rival, Trump  made serious assaults on the idea of the wind farm. “Scotland, if you pursue this policy of these monstrous turbines, Scotland will go broke,” he said. “They are ugly, they are noisy and they are dangerous. If Scotland does this, Scotland will be in serious trouble and will lose tourism to places like Ireland, and they are laughing at us.” When asked to substantiate these serious claims with proof, he continued, “I am the evidence, I am a world class expert in tourism.”

The public gallery in which the hearing was being held exploded in to mirthful laughter. If only all opposition to green energy could be so easily dismissed, our international fight for green energy would be a lot easier. It is to be said to his benefit, however, that Trump’s ineffectual blustering has caused attention to be drawn to this important Scottish advance. In the end, ironically, Trump’s objections only served to aid the publicity and support of the wind farms.
